The Maverick Battalion is the Army ROTC program at the University of Texas at Arlington, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to succeed as U.S. Army officers. Its reach spans the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex: the battalion partners with five universities and one community college, so currently enrolled students at UT Arlington, UT Dallas, the University of Dallas, Southern Methodist University, Dallas Baptist University, and Tarrant County College can all join.
The program is traditionally a four-year plan taken alongside a cadet's academic degree, but for highly qualified applicants it can be condensed to as little as a two-year path. The Maverick Battalion emphasizes that there are many routes to a commission, and the right path for each cadet depends on where they are in their studies when they start.

Application opened June 14, 2026; final deadline to start an application is March 4, 2027. Three selection boards (Oct, Jan, Mar). 8-year total service obligation; you can exit after freshman year with no obligation.
