What we collect
When you submit a form on this site, we collect your email address. The forms are the newsletter signup, the match tool, the compare PDF request, and the contact form. We also collect any preferences you give us, such as branch interest, year in school, home state, scholarship status, and intended major. We use standard analytics tools (Google Analytics and PostHog). They set cookies and collect anonymous data about how people use the site.
How we use it
- To send you the newsletter and any reminders you asked for
- To reply to your contact form messages
- To improve the site with aggregate analytics
- To sort our subscriber list so you get content that fits you. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We are not an ROTC unit, and we have no link to one. We send your information to a unit in one case only: when you use the contact form on that unit's page. Then we forward your name, email, and message to the email address the unit publishes, and we keep a copy. The unit decides if it replies.
Public community discussions
We look at public discussions on sites such as Reddit, Service Academy Forums, College Confidential, and Quora. We only count trends. This shows us which questions future cadets ask. We do not republish posts. We do not store usernames or any information that can identify a person. When we show an example question, we rewrite it in our own words. We delete the raw post text right after we extract the trend data. Only the counts remain.
If a forum operator objects, we stop at once. We limit our request rate and we follow each site's robots.txt file.
Children and minors
Our email forms are for people 13 and older. If you are under 18, we ask for a parent's email address. We then contact only the parent.
Email and consent
Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Partner sharing is off by default. We do not share your information with third-party advertisers unless you turn that option on yourself.
Where we store data
We store your data in PocketBase. We send email with Resend. We serve images from Google Cloud Storage. We do not sell user data.
