About this program

Headquartered on the Vanderbilt University campus in Tennessee, NROTC Vanderbilt University is the local accession point into the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. Founded in 1949, the unit has graduated officers across every major service era since.

Sister-school participation is a real piece of this unit. Midshipmen from Middle Tennessee State University, Belmont University, Lipscomb University, and Fisk University contract through NROTC Vanderbilt University and travel to Vanderbilt University for the military-side requirements while keeping their core degree at the partner.

On the scholarship side: NROTC Navy Option (4-year), NROTC Marine Option, NROTC Nurse Option (where offered) are all live channels at NROTC Vanderbilt University. Academically, Vanderbilt University is well-regarded for international affairs and language study — a track that pairs well with ROTC's emphasis on technical and leadership majors.
