About this program

Tulane University in New Orleans was selected on June 1, 1938 to host a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps unit, and today it stands as one of the oldest continuously active NROTC programs in the nation. Since its founding, the unit has aimed to commission the best-trained, most highly qualified Ensigns and Second Lieutenants in the Navy and Marine Corps.

The program has grown into a cross-town unit hosting midshipmen from Loyola University, Xavier University, Dillard University, the University of New Orleans, and Southern University at New Orleans. Tulane NROTC's excellence has earned national recognition: it received the 2019-2020 Department of Defense Reserve Officers' Training Corps Excellence Award, honoring the unit among all ROTC programs nationally. An active alumni association sustains lifelong ties among current and former midshipmen, families, and staff.
