About this program
The University of Vermont's Army ROTC program, known on campus as the Green Mountain Battalion, is the oldest Army ROTC program in the country, tracing its roots to 1913 when it began as the Student's Army Training Course. For more than a century it has produced some of the finest leaders to serve in the United States Army.
ROTC at UVM is built directly into a cadet's degree program, consisting of 18 credits taken over four years alongside the premier leadership curriculum. Cadets have access to unique training opportunities, and there are ample scholarship opportunities available specifically for current and prospective nursing students.
At its heart, the battalion describes itself as a large family in which everyone is invested in one another's success. The cadet battalion commander, NCOs, and officers set high expectations while providing a strong level of support to help cadets meet them.
