About this program
The University of North Georgia is one of the nation's six Senior Military Colleges, and its Boar's Head Brigade Corps of Cadets sits at the center of a Senior ROTC program that educates and commissions officers for the total Army. Active-duty cadre assigned to 1st Brigade, U.S. Army Cadet Command teach a four-year Military Science curriculum designed to build progressively year over year, aiming to commission fit, intellectually agile officers prepared for a modern, multi-domain Army. Newly commissioned UNG officers graduate proficient at Basic Officer Leader Course tasks and ready to report to their first duty station.
The program pairs academic rigor with a disciplined corps environment and access to modern facilities, and its cadets compete at the highest levels—the UNG Ranger Challenge team earned a spot at the international Sandhurst Military Skills Competition at West Point, finishing ninth among ROTC teams. UNG has also brought emerging skills into training, offering cadets drone instruction that combines flight simulators with actual drones. In a recent year the university commissioned 60 new second lieutenants into the Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve.
