About this program

NROTC at the University of Colorado Boulder prepares midshipmen to commission as officers in the Navy and Marine Corps, working to build resilient, high-character leaders through academics, physical training, and hands-on military development. The Midshipmen Battalion emphasizes integration between its Navy and Marine options and a fiercely competitive spirit.

CU NROTC is known for hosting The Colorado Meet, a national event where NROTC units from across the country compete in endurance courses, rifle matches, drill, and knowledge contests in Boulder. Marine-option and active-duty students conduct semester field exercises in Jacks Valley, Colorado, training through sub-freezing temperatures, significant elevation changes, and sleep deprivation. Beyond military training, the unit is active in the campus community -- its members have led the university's football team through leadership-focused physical training -- and offers pursuits from Marine Corps Martial Arts to ultimate frisbee.
