Navy ROTC at Texas A&M University
NROTC Texas A&M University
The NROTC Texas A&M University commissions U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps officers at Texas A&M University.
About this program
Texas A&M has been a major source of commissioned officers for America's armed services since 1876 -- during World War II it commissioned more officers than West Point -- and its Naval ROTC unit carries that tradition forward, preparing students to serve as officers in the Navy and Marine Corps.
Midshipmen train through the Midshipmen Battalion, the organization used to develop future Navy and Marine officers within Texas A&M's Corps of Cadets. Cadets seeking an added challenge can join special units such as the SEAL Platoon, Marine Recon Company, and Fish Drill Team. Scholarship students attend a series of Navy summer cruises and Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID) across their undergraduate years, gaining hands-on exposure to the fleet before commissioning.
