Hoya Battalion · Hoya

Hoya Battalion hosts Army ROTC at Georgetown University and 3 partner schools across District of Columbia.

Hoya Battalion

About this program

The Hoya Battalion is one of the most storied Army ROTC programs in the country, drawing cadets from eight Washington, D.C.-area institutions built around Georgetown University — including The Catholic University of America, The George Washington University, the University of the District of Columbia, Trinity Washington University, and the Institute for World Politics. Cadets become officers through a balanced program of academics, rigorous military training, and leadership development.

Georgetown's Army history is exceptional in its depth: the first Georgetown student — who later served in Congress — was also its first cadet in 1791, and across more than 220 years the battalion has commissioned over 4,100 officers, among them a former Army Chief of Staff. In 2012, U.S. Army Cadet Command ranked the Hoya Battalion the top Senior ROTC battalion in the nation out of 272 programs.

The cadre develop each cadet individually, setting and enforcing standards while ensuring cadets are prepared physically, mentally, and academically to earn a commission and lead soldiers. New Hoya officers join a long line of distinguished graduates who have served in every major American conflict.
