Seminole Battalion

About this program

Florida State University's Seminole Battalion runs the Department of Military Science under the motto “We Train the Best to Lead the Best.” The program develops leaders through rigorous academic and military training, giving cadets discipline and tactical skills while they complete their degrees, and commissions graduates as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, or National Guard.

Beyond the classroom, cadets build experience through FSU's extracurricular ROTC activities and summer training. The program is backed by a Military Science General Foundation Fund, which supports enhanced opportunities such as competing in the Army Ten-Miler and the Bataan Memorial Death March, drill competitions, earning the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB), and leadership workshops — all aimed at directly enriching a cadet's experience at FSU.
