About this program
The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, is one of the nation's top Senior Military Colleges and offers commissioning programs across every branch of the armed services. From within the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, students can pursue commissions through Army ROTC (Department of Military Science), Air Force and Space Force ROTC (Department of Aerospace Studies), Navy and Marine Corps ROTC (Department of Naval Science), and a Coast Guard College Student Pre-Commissioning path—making it one of the few schools where a cadet can choose almost any service in one place.
ROTC is built into the Citadel experience: classes are required during the first two years of study, and cadets who are pursuing a commission continue ROTC coursework through all four years, while non-commissioning cadets take leadership classes in their final two years. Cadets prepare to meet the U.S. military fitness standards for their chosen branch, which vary by service and typically include timed runs and upper-body strength events. Scholarships covering tuition and stipends are available across the branches.
